How to use PARIDE, step by step: connecting the client to the server, working in a workspace, writing the same file with other people, searching the files, choosing the look; and for administrators, how to install the server and the agents and how to approve users. Short answers are in the FAQ.
- Getting started with the clientThe PARIDE client is the window you use to read and write the code that lives on the server. This guide takes you from the first start to the first open file.
- Workspaces and filesA workspace is a folder on the server holding a project, or several projects that go together. All the connected clients see the same workspaces, with the same files.
- Writing togetherIn PARIDE a file opened by several people is written together, like a shared document. There is nothing to switch on: just open the same file.
- Find and replace in filesThe search in files is done by the server, where the files are: even on a large project the window stays responsive, and the results arrive while the search goes on.
- Look, shortcuts and languageThe theme icon at the top right switches from dark (the default) to light, to your themes and to “like the system”, on the fly, also in the open tabs. The choice is remembered.
- Installing the serverThe PARIDE server, paride-server, is a .NET 10 program: it runs on Linux and on Windows.
- Installing an agentThe agents (paride-agent) are the machines that build for the server: Linux, Windows or macOS, even more than one, even the same machine as the server. Today an agent connects, gets approved and stays connected; build...
- Users and rolesOnly those approved by the administrator get into a PARIDE server. Nobody copies keys or files by hand: a new workstation or agent introduces itself, and the administrator approves it by comparing a code.
