Look, shortcuts and language

The theme

The theme icon at the top right switches from dark (the default) to light, to your themes and to “like the system”, on the fly, also in the open tabs. The choice is remembered.

A theme of your own

In the Configuration, Appearance section, the button “Copy the theme to change it” writes the current theme into a JSON file in the temi folder of your data and selects it. Open the file, change the colours (#RRGGBB), save, and choose the theme again to see it. A theme can be just a few lines: missing colours are taken from the built-in dark or light theme.

{"name":"Amber night","dark":true,"textmate":"OneDark",
 "colors":{"accent":"#E5A84B","editor":"#1E1B16"}}

A wrong colour stops nothing: the reason goes to the Output.

The editor

In the Editor and files section of the Configuration:

  • the editor font and its size, among the fixed-width fonts of the system; if it is missing on the machine, PARIDE goes back to JetBrains Mono, which it carries with it;
  • visible spaces and excluded files, the same switches as in the View menu.

The vertical line at column 90 is where end-of-line comments start.

Panels

Tabs and panels can be dragged where you like: into another group, split right or below, or detached into a window for a second monitor. On close PARIDE remembers the layout; View → Default layout puts it back as it was at the start, and closed panels are reopened from the View menu.

Shortcuts

They are those of Visual Studio; on the Mac Cmd works as Ctrl.

Keys Command
Ctrl+S save now
Ctrl+P quick open
Ctrl+Shift+F find in files
Ctrl+G go to line
Ctrl+Z, Ctrl+Y undo, redo
Ctrl+Shift+V Markdown preview
Ctrl+Shift+B build (with phase F3)
F5, Ctrl+F5 run with or without debugging (with phases F7 and F10)
F12, Shift+F12 definition, references (with phase F5)

To change one, write only the different one in the settings.json file of your data, for example "shortcuts": {"build": "Ctrl+Alt+B"}; an empty shortcut removes it. A mistake or a conflict goes to the Output on start.

Language

The interface is in Italian and in English. It usually follows the system's; to choose it, write "language": "it" or "en" in settings.json, and it applies from the next start.
